Anatomia Aperta 3D — Licensing & Attribution
Anatomia Aperta 3D is committed to open anatomical education, transparent provenance, and appropriate attribution of the resources on which the project is built.
The atlas combines and develops anatomical material originating from several open resources. Consequently, users should consider the provenance and applicable license of the material they intend to reuse.
BodyParts3D / Anatomography
A substantial component of the anatomical geometry underlying Anatomia Aperta 3D originates from BodyParts3D/Anatomography, developed by the Database Center for Life Science (DBCLS), Japan.
BodyParts3D has been distributed under Creative Commons licensing. The applicable license may depend upon the particular version of the source dataset.
Users should consult the original BodyParts3D documentation and the detailed licensing information provided in the Anatomia Aperta 3D GitHub repository before redistributing source-derived material.
Z-Anatomy
Anatomia Aperta 3D also builds upon Z-Anatomy — The Libre 3D Atlas of Anatomy.
Z-Anatomy itself incorporates material from multiple sources. Components derived from Z-Anatomy therefore remain subject to the applicable licensing and attribution requirements identified by the original project.
Anatomia Aperta 3D Modifications
The source anatomical resources have been extensively reviewed, corrected, reorganized, reconstructed, and expanded for Anatomia Aperta 3D.
This work includes anatomical corrections and additions, reconstruction of neural structures and pathways, organization of anatomical datasets, modification of materials, and development of the interactive 3D presentation and anatomical hierarchy.
A complete chronological record of these changes is publicly available in the project’s MODIFICATIONS.md document.
Third-Party Material
Nothing in the Anatomia Aperta 3D licensing documentation is intended to remove, replace, or restrict the attribution requirements or licensing conditions attached to third-party material.
Where material originates from another project or creator, its original copyright, license, and attribution requirements remain applicable.
Users intending to redistribute, modify, publish, or commercially reuse individual models should review the provenance and applicable licensing conditions of the relevant source material.
Attribution
When using Anatomia Aperta 3D materials, acknowledgment of both the project and the relevant original anatomical sources is encouraged and, where required by the applicable license, mandatory.
A suggested general attribution is:
Anatomia Aperta 3D — anatomical models derived from BodyParts3D/Anatomography and Z-Anatomy, with anatomical corrections, reconstructions, additions, organization, and interactive 3D visualization developed for Anatomia Aperta 3D.
Where applicable, the original BodyParts3D/Anatomography, Z-Anatomy, and other third-party contributors should also be acknowledged according to their respective licensing requirements.
Full Licensing Documentation
The authoritative project documentation, including detailed source attribution, applicable licensing information, the modification record, and access to the downloadable datasets, is maintained in the official Anatomia Aperta 3D GitHub repository.
Users planning to redistribute or adapt the datasets should consult that documentation before doing so.
