Anatomia Aperta 3D — Terms of Use
Last updated: October 2026
Anatomia Aperta 3D is a nonprofit, open-access project providing interactive three-dimensional human anatomy for education, teaching, scientific research, and anatomical exploration. Anatomia Aperta 3D operates as a nonprofit educational initiative and may accept voluntary donations to support its development, maintenance, and continued availability. Donations are optional and do not affect access to the atlas or the licensing conditions applicable to its anatomical datasets.
By accessing or using this website, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms.
Educational and Research Purpose
The anatomical models, illustrations, annotations, descriptions, and other materials presented through Anatomia Aperta 3D are provided for educational, academic, and research purposes.
The atlas is not intended to provide medical advice and should not be considered a substitute for authoritative anatomical references, professional medical education, clinical judgment, diagnostic evaluation, or patient-specific medical assessment.
Anatomical Accuracy
The anatomical datasets incorporated into Anatomia Aperta 3D have undergone review, correction, reconstruction, reorganization, and expansion.
Every effort has been made to provide anatomically accurate representations, and modifications have been performed to the best of the author’s anatomical knowledge. Nevertheless, anatomical models are representations of human anatomy and may contain inaccuracies, simplifications, omissions, or technical limitations.
Users are responsible for independently verifying anatomical information when it is used for scientific, educational, clinical, or other professional purposes.
If an anatomical error is identified, users are encouraged to report it through the project’s GitHub repository, preferably with appropriate anatomical references.
Clinical Use
Anatomia Aperta 3D is not a medical device and has not been developed or validated for diagnosis, treatment, surgical navigation, patient-specific surgical planning, or other regulated clinical applications.
Any clinical or professional use of information obtained from the atlas remains the responsibility of the individual user.
Intellectual Property and Licensing
Anatomia Aperta 3D builds upon open anatomical resources created by other projects and contributors, particularly BodyParts3D/Anatomography and Z-Anatomy.
Use, modification, and redistribution of downloadable datasets are governed by the applicable licenses of the respective source material and by the licensing information provided by Anatomia Aperta 3D.
Third-party materials remain subject to their original licenses and attribution requirements.
Please consult the Licensing & Attribution section before downloading, modifying, redistributing, or incorporating project materials into another work.
Availability and Updates
Anatomia Aperta 3D is an evolving project. Anatomical models, annotations, interfaces, organization, datasets, and other content may be corrected, expanded, modified, replaced, or removed as the atlas develops.
Continuous availability of the website, viewer, downloadable datasets, or external resources is not guaranteed.
